the Euro ..... not about holiday shopping! |
|
|
In January 2001, 11 European countries combined their currencies into a single so-called "Euro" currency. The politicians said the Euro would "cause an explosion of growth throughout Europe, and lower costs by letting consumers Europe-wide, compare prices".
Neither of these has happened! Instead of boom, we've had only "bust" - the economies of France and Germany have contracted, with even more millions out of work. Prices in their shops have not converged - they've just all gone up - whether you look in Italy, France, Germany or Spain. |

"European Commission post: No Catholics need apply ....."
If you saw that in a job advert in Belfast, the police would soon be called and would be investigating Religious Discrimination. But in the EEC such bigotry is accepted. The Euro-stablishment is rabidly anti-Catholic. Rocco Buttiglione was rejected for the post, just for his personal relgious views, which are the same as those of all Catholics. |

Maastricht and the Euro currency are good only for Big Business - not for ordinary Europeans. Ask anyone in France or Germany - the'll tell you they want LESS control from Brussels - not more! But European governments (including our own) don't give a toss what the people want.
Should Britain ditch the pound - our currency for a thousand years - and join the "Euro"? It will certainly make shopping and holidays in France easier. But that's not what it's about: if we join the Euro, we lose all control over important parts of the economy: the bank rate, interest-rates, and in the future, of how much we tax and how much we spend. That's what is really at stake. Blair and Brown say we could have a referendum in 2005 on the Euro, if the "six tests" are met. This is crap - the "6 tests" are so vague, we could easily already say they are passed, or failed. Blair wants to get us in the Euro, and in any referendum would tell us to say "Yes". But he's also terrified of "losing" a referendum - so there will be one, only if New Labour's opinion polls show that the voters are likely to say "Yes". Democracy in Britain is fast disappearing. Since Tory John Major signed the Maastricht treaty in 1996, Britain is handing over more and more power to the EEC. The EEC (based in Brussels) is a committee - they're not MPs from any country; none of them was elected. Not just Britain, but all of Europe, is now controlled more and more, by this un-elected junta. We all know some of the ways the EEC has been bossing us around. They told us to let child-murderers Venables and Thompson out of jail. They've made us let paedophiles out of prison. (Next on their list of murderers that we've got to let out, by the way, is Yorkshire Ripper Peter Sutcliffe. Brussels reckons that "14 years is enough punishment for him".) They stopped people buying fruit in pounds weight in the markets. The hidden Maastricht agenda is even more sinister. All the Euro-countries will have to have the same tax rates; this means VAT going up to the highest Euro-rate of 21%. In a federation, you can't have cars driving on the left in some countries (states); and on the right in others. Currently 23 EEC countries drive on the right, and only two (Britain and Ireland) on the left. So the ones who'll have to change are US. Britain (and Eire) will have to switch to driving ON THE RIGHT - probably by year 2007. (The toll in Britain in the first year alone - an estimated 23,000 deaths and 91,000 serious injuries - apart from the huge cost to our economy of the changeover.) We'll also have to write our numbers in the "Continental" way - they use a comma where we use a decimal point. The EEC is a "club" where the members are not treated equally. Only Britain, Germany and the Netherlands, pay in subscriptions. The other 9 countries, all take money out of the kitty. The CAP (Common Agricultural Policy) gives this money (our money) to all the farmers in Europe, to grow food which nobody wants to - or can afford to - buy. This is unfair to the Third World countries of Africa, who want to sell us cheaper food, to earn hard currency; but aren't allowed to. and his family ... only to the lads who murdered him" The so-called "European Court of Human Rights" in Strasbourg, is really to protect "Offenders' Rights". It exists only to protect and help offenders - not to protect the rights of their victims. They ordered Britain to let out John Venables and Robert Thompson (who murdered little Jamie Bulger in Liverpool in 1992.) (Blair could have stood up to Brussels on this, but he agrees with letting them out.) Their idea of "Human Rights" don't apply to little Jamie Bulger and his family; only to the lads who murdered him. Next Brussels is going to make us release Peter Sutcliffe, the so-called "Ripper" who murdered at least 21 women. This court of Human "Rights" has said, murderers should get only 14 years maximum, in prison. This "Human Rights" court has nothing to say about the rights of the innocent - about the rights of women to walk around at night, without being raped. About protecting toddlers like James Bulger, not only in Bootle, but right across Europe. "Rights" are only for those who commit the offences - murderers, rapists, terrorists. They help paedophiles like Marc Dutreux in Belgium. That's why he was able to murder so many young girls - and then even escape from custody ! |
FAMILIES FIRST Europe Policies :
Keep the Pound. Stay OUT of the Euro. It's not about making life easier for holiday-makers - it's about handing over control of our taxes, budget, bank-rate and all monetary policy, to Brussels.
Big reduction in our EU contributions and NO IMF contribution to bailing-out Greece (or any other Euro-zone country).
A referendum - the one that both David Cameron and Gordon Brown promised, (but then reneged on their promise) - on the Lisbon treaty. This would not just be a "For / Against" Lisbon, but would offer 4 or 5 choices for the British people to make - such as 1. Move closer into the EEC and join the Euro, 2. Stay as we are including Lisbon, 3. Tear up Lisbon and reduce our EEC subs (but stay in the EEC ), 4. Leave the EEC altogether.
Total reform of the EEC budget. An end to the Common Agricultural policy; each country pays the same sub (per head of population); NO more new entrants to the EEC, until it is working properly with the members we've already got. (That is likely to take at least 30 years.)
Opt out of the European Court of Human "Rights" - this is really a court of "Offenders' Rights". We've had Human Rights protected by our own parliament, for the past thousand years. We don't need the EEC's "human rights".
We stick with driving on the LEFT. Distances and speeds on the roads stay in miles, not kilometres. The schools to teach BOTH systems - imperial and metric. Fresh food must be sold by imperial weight - but shops could optionally, mark in metric units as well.
